It’s Hopping in Barberville! The Barberville Pioneer Settlement along with The West Volusia Beacon and Hometown News is pleased to present the 12th Annual Spring Frolic. This music and dance festival is sure to please the whole family. Saturday April 23, 2016 9am - 9pm and Sunday April 24, 2016 9am - 4pm. Admission: Adults $10, Children 6-12 $5, Children 5 and under Free. Members FREE! Parking is FREE! On the last full weekend of April the Barberville Pioneer Settlement will be filled with live acoustic music as over 200 musicians from all across the state perform on seven stages throughout the grounds. The musicians also teach workshops and conduct jams which are open to all, so bring your instrument and join in the music and the fun. Tentative Music, Jam, and Workshop schedules are available online. Old fashioned barn and contra dancing happens each afternoon until closing in the schoolhouse auditorium. Do you have an antique or classic car? Cruise in and show it off as The Crankin A’s Car Club presents the Antique Car Show on Saturday (from 9am-2pm only). The show is open to all makes and models with prizes to be awarded and fun to be had. Discover yesterday throughout the event with living history demonstrations of the life skills required of pioneers in rural Florida in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Experience the trades of a weaver, blacksmith, woodworker, and more. Worked up an appetite yet? We’ve been serving up finger lickin’ food for years so if you’re a fan of pulled pork then you should taste ours. 40 years and folk are still coming back for seconds. Other items on the menu include hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, and slaw. The Barberville Pioneer Settlement is located just eleven and a half miles north of Hwy. 92 (ISB), DeLand. The historical village museum is situated on a thirty-acre campus that features eighteen 18 historical structures and a collection of over 10,000 artifacts. The Barberville Pioneer Settlement is a registered non-profit organization and offers self-guided and guided tours, field trips, workshops and demonstrations, as well as rental facilities for meetings, small weddings and special events.
